ABOUT
Corey Stanton is an award-winning filmmaker based out of Toronto, Canada.
After earning both a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and Doctorate in Medicine (M.D.), Stanton decided to switch focus from a career as a physician to a career that centers on his lifelong passion: filmmaking.
In 2017, Stanton released his short medical documentary "The Match," which was featured by the Canadian Medical Association. The short doc has since been shared thousands of times across the globe, serving as an educational tool in medical schools.
In 2018, Stanton wrote, directed, produced, edited, and composed the music for his feature film debut, "Robbery." The film won Best Canadian Feature Film and Best Supporting Actor at the 2018 Toronto After Dark Film Festival, Best First Canadian Feature at the 2019 Victoria Film Festival, and is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and other VOD platforms.
In 2020, Stanton was 1 of 15 recipients of the CBC Creative Relief Fund in the CBC Short Docs Stream. As part of this endeavor to create non-fiction art focused on the COVID-19 pandemic, Stanton went on to produce, direct, and edit the CBC Short Documentary "Patient People," which is now available to stream on CBC Gem.
In 2022, Stanton wrote, directed, produced, edited, composed the music, and designed visual effects for his second feature film, “Trader.” The film won multiple awards at the 2022 Hamilton Film Festival (Best Performance in a Feature Film, Best Editing, Best Music, Honourable Mentions for Best Feature Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay), the Spirit of Independents award at the 2022 Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, and was an official selection at the 2023 St. Augustine Film Festival and the 2023 Panic Fest in Kansas City. “Trader” is now available to rent/buy in North America via AppleTV, Amazon, and other VOD platforms.
